Planning considerations
Review sun direction at the times you use the yard, seating dimensions, roof lines and walking clearance. Discuss attached or freestanding options and whether the proposed shade pattern meets your goals. Confirm HOA, permit and structural requirements before work begins.
Material choices
Alumawood uses aluminum components with a wood look. Discuss available finishes, roof style, posts and trim for the selected system. Open lattice and solid cover choices have different shade and weather characteristics; availability and suitability should be confirmed.
Preparation before the finish
The installation plan must account for anchoring, footings, existing surfaces and any connection to the house. Electrical additions, engineering and permits should be clearly identified in the written scope rather than assumed included.
Care and upkeep
Clean using the manufacturer’s guidance and inspect connections and finishes periodically. Aluminum avoids the painting and care cycle of many wood structures, but it still needs cleaning and inspection.
What affects the cost
Size, cover style, finish, attachment method, footings, access and required approvals affect the price. Lighting or electrical work adds scope when included.
